| Madelia Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Co. was organized by local farmers
around Madelia in June of 1887. The office was in various locations until
1915. At that time, Farmers Home Mutual Insurance Co. "Old Madelia" built
a new office building at 114 West Main in Madelia and the fire company was
located in their office. The company remained at this location until we
moved into our new office in August of 1985, at 111 West Main in Madelia.
In 1971, the Board of Directors of the Lake Crystal Farmers Mutual Fire
Insurance Co. and Madelia Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Co. met to work out a
merger of the two companies. The members of both companies approved this
merger in 1972 thus forming the Madelia-Lake Crystal Mutual Insurance Co.
At the end of 2003, the company was providing over $396,000,000 of coverage
throughout our writing area. The policyholder reserve is over $2,485,000.
This is with premium income of over $595,000. The Madelia-Lake Crystal
Mutual Insurance Co. is one of the largest township mutual companies in the
state of Minnesota. The reserve provides security for the member
policyholders along with stable rates. The Board of Directors also has
very adequate reinsurance contracts to add security and stability for our member
policyholders. The companies reinsurance contracts are through the
Reinsurance Association of Minnesota.
With this history and stability, we at Madelia-Lake Crystal Mutual Insurance
Co. offer confidential market coverage without fear of economic hardship.
